Welcome Golfers to The Melrose Golf Club on Daufuskie Island

To those of you experiencing golf for the first time on Daufuskie Island, we welcome you today. Whichever course you have chosen, you will be in for a memorable golf experience. A ferry will transport you on a scenic cruise along the Skull Creek, the Calabogue Sound and then the Cooper River where you will reach your final destination, the Melrose Landing on Daufuskie Island. As you travel along the waterways, you will experience the South Carolina low country at its finest. Keep your eye out for the Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins that use the waterways as their playground. Some landmarks that you will pass will be Windmill Harbour, home of the South Carolina Yacht Club, Spanish Wells, named after the wells that Spanish Mariners used in the 1600’s to replenish fresh water in their journeys, Harbourtown, home of the famous red and white striped lighthouse and Haig Point, the private golf development on the north end of Daufuskie Island, which is guarded by its famous historical lighthouse.

By now you've already dropped off your golf clubs with our bell staff and have picked up your ferry tickets. You are on your way to a great golf experience on Daufuskie Island. Upon arriving at the Melrose Landing, the boat captain will let you know when it is safe to depart the ferry. It is our policy that our members and guests depart first, followed by staff members. Transportation shuttles will be awaiting your arrival at the end of the landing to take you to the Melrose Clubhouse.

When you have arrived at the Melrose Clubhouse you will walk up the front steps and enter the building. The ladies locker will be located immediately to your right. Immediately on the left will be the Daufuskie Island Real Estate office. If you are interested in finding out about real estate opportunities on Daufuskie Island, one of their agents will be more than happy to answer your questions. Moving further down the hallway on the left is Jack's Place which serves lunch and also offers food and beverage to golfers making the turn. Across from Jack's and on the right side of the hallway right just before entering the pro shop is the men’s locker room. Day lockers are complimentary and shower facilities are available with full amenities. The pro shop is located at the end of the hall and the registration desk is located to the left.

Golfers will be registered by tee times with the earlier tee times being checked in first. If arrangements can be made for one person to register and pay for the whole group, it would expedite the check in process.

After registering, use the rear exit of the clubhouse, walk down the steps to the right, turn right around the corner of the clubhouse and you will arrive at the cart-staging area. Our Player Attendants will be there to assist you with your clubs and give you directions to the putting green, first tee, starter and driving range. Your cart will be equipped with tees, towels, scorecard and pencil.

Driving range balls are complimentary and are already located on the driving range for you.

We ask that you adhere to any cart regulations that may be required for the day as well as ropes and signage throughout the course.

Pin placements for the day will be designated on the first tee and sections of the individual greens are reflected in the visor of your golf cart.

Restrooms are located on holes #4 and #13 and the 9th hole does come back to the clubhouse. If you plan on stopping all together after nine to enjoy lunch in Jack’s Place, you will lose your priority on the course and will be placed back on the course at the discretion of the pro shop.

After your round, we ask that you return your carts directly to the cart staging area so our player assistants can make sure that your clubs travel on the same ferry as you do.

Pick up for the ferry returning to Hilton Head will be in front of the Melrose Clubhouse. The transportation shuttle will pick players up 30 minutes before the scheduled ferry departure.

At the end of your day you will head back to the Melrose Landing. Your golf clubs will be on the same boat as you are and will again end up with our bellmen on Hilton Head. Upon arriving on Hilton Head, we suggest you walk to the parking lot, pick up your car and drive to the bag drop area. This will give our Bell Staff the opportunity to unload the luggage carts and have your golf bags ready for you.

At any time during your stay with us, feel free to call on any of our Daufuskie Island Associates and they will be more than happy to assist you in any way possible. Thank you for sharing your day with us.
